Leptodius sanguineus

(H. Milne Edwards, 1834)

The antero-lateral margins of the carapace have 4 to 5 teeth behind the exorbital angle. The carapace and chelipeds have their surfaces granular or smooth, sometimes finely punctate. There are 5 teeth behind the exorbital angle; the fifth is sometimes reduced to a granule. The posterior antero-lateral tooth is much smaller that the others but quite distinct. The first pleopod of the male has 3-4 feeble, straight, subdistal spines and a short apical lobe bordered on one side by 5-6 mushroom-shaped tubercles for most of its length and followed distally by 2-3 curved spines.
