Platypodia semigranosa

(Heller, 1861)

The dorsal surface of the carapace is entirely or partly granular, glabrous or covered with short or long setae. The superior margin of the cheliped palm has a smooth or granular crest, or at least a row of granules well defined, occupying the whole length of the margin or only on the proximal part. The antero-lateral margins of the carapace are formed of four subtriangular lobes with pointed apices. The dorsal surface of the carapace has the regions poorly defined and bears moderately large, pearliform, spaced granules, which are not numerous except on 2M, 4M, 1P and 2P that are smooth. The superior margin of the cheliped palm has a granular crest and the external face is granular on the superior half and smooth below; the fixed finger has a large trifid tooth. The ambulatory legs are smooth with a crest on the anterior margin. The carapace is reddish-brown and the ambulatory legs are white. (Serène, 1984)
