Zozymodes cavipes

(Dana, 1852)

General aspect of carapace almost resembles that of Xantho distinguendus, but in the present species, it is more thickly covered with fine granules, of which those on anterior and lateral surfaces are arranged in transverse series. The antero-lateral borders are armed with five obtusely pointed teeth, the sinuses between the teeth are very shallow. The free edge of the frontal lobes is almost transverse, and is thickened and granular.
The wrist and palm are dorsally covered with networks formed by the granulated wrinkles; the outer surface of palm is covered with longitudinal series of granules. The merus of the ambulatory legs is crested along the anterior border, the crest being cut into several teeth; the carpus and propodus are sharply bicarinate, the carinae enclosing a characteristic trough-like cavity; the distal half of carpus and entire segment of propodus and dactylus are thickly covered with short fur.
