Novactaea pulchella

(A. Milne Edwards, 1865)

Carapace relatively broad, convex dorsally. Surface distinctly areolated, except for posterior part, covered with large rounded granules, becoming conical near the margins; short and brown setae. Region 2M almost undivided; 4M very narrow. Antero-lateral margin with four lobes, hardly indicated, ornamented with pointed granules. Male chelipeds short; palm a little inflated, with large granules encircled with brown setae; the black colouration of the fixed fingers largely extending backwards onto the palm. Ambulatory legs merus of P5 about 1.8 times longer than broad. (Guinot 1998)
