Carapace relatively narrow, the length/breadth ratio being 1.5 or 1.6, somewhat globular. Dorsal surface markedly convex. Regions of carapace separated by deep and broad grooves; carapace uniformly covered with studded, vesiculous granules on upper surface of each region. Antero-lateral margins dented, with strong conical tubercles. No process on each side of the first abdominal segment. (Guinot 1998)

Type locality: east of Tsushima, Japan, 34°25.1'N, 129°59.3'E, 115 m.
Range: Japan - Tsushima Strait (Takeda & Miyake, 1969e, Takeda, 1973), coast of Miura Peninsula (Sakai, 1976a), Sagami Bay (Guinot, 1976); East China Sea (Takeda & Miyake, 1969e); 115-196 m.
