Carapace broadly oval to octagonal, broader than long; dorsal surface with clear cut grooves, regions thus very distinct; true rostrum a broad, low triangle projecting forwards, lateral lobes low and obscure. External maxilliped with ischium longer than merus, measured along lateral border, former broadened distally, latter rounded. Chelipeds not very robust and shorter than ambulatory legs. Second to fifth pereiopods flattened and rather stout, dactylus curved, without spines on concave border. Male abdomen subtriangular and composed of four discrete segments. (Türkay 1995)
Type locality: Shimabara, Nagasaki, Japan.
