Achaeus japonicus

Carapace without conspicuous spines dorsally, regions well delimited, postorbital neck short, hepatic lobe smooth, convexity low, branchial regions smooth; supraorbital eave without large spines; rostral spines separated through a U-shaped incision, tips acute. Basal antennal article granulate. Chelipeds of adult male robust, much heavier than the ambulatory legs; merus relatively short and bulging externally; carpus nearly as long as merus; palm swollen, upper border with a longitudinal row of spinules and setae; fingers incurved. Dactyls of last two pairs of ambulatory legs strongly falcate. (Türkay 1995)
