Achaeus brevifalcatus

Regions of carapace demarcated by wide furrows, postorbital region moderately long, hepatic region produced, narrow and apically acute to subacute, protogastric and branchial regions smooth, cardiac region with two large tubercles side by side and a much smaller one on the posterior slope; supraorbital eave with a number of spinules, no large spine; rostral lobes moderately broad at base, well separated from base on by a V-shaped sinus, apically acute. Eyestalk slender, with a small tubercle on anterior middle portion and a terminal spinule. Basal antennal article slender, with a prominent forwardly directed spine at its antero-internal angle. Chelipeds robust in larger males, merus swollen and subtrigonal, spinulated at three borders; fingers of chela leaving a broad proximal gap. Dactyli of last two pairs of ambulatory legs strongly falcate. (Türkay 1995)
