Sakai, 1934
The granulation on the upper surface of the carapace is different according to the sex; in the male the granules found on the gastro-cardiac and branchial regions are markedly beaded and the branchio-cardiac grooves are more strongly depressed and roughened. In the female, the carapace is usually uniformly covered with granules, which are somewhat depressed. The abdomen of male consists of three pieces as in Philyra tuberculosa; the second tergum is very short and freely movable at either side, but in the middle part the suture line between this tergum and the third tergum is only indicated by two minute pits arranged side by side in the middle. Abdomen of female consists of four pieces, each segment being covered with beaded granules. (Sakai, 1937)
