Genus Mortensenella

Rathbun, 1909

Crabs commensal with burrowing worms. Carapace roundly square. Third maxillipeds close together; ischium and merus nearly equal, broad, subquadrate, fused, the suture being indistinct; palp very small, inserted near antero-external angle of the merus and consisting of three subequal articles, placed end to end. Chelipeds equal, with fingers gaping, their tips elongated, pectinated, forceps-like; dactylus with molariform tooth on cutting edge. Ambulatory legs: P5 very reduced in size. Male abdomen with all segments distinct; the fifth segment constricted. G1 strongly recurved. (Guinot 1998)
