Endostome higly modified. Exopodite of third maxilliped without flagellum. Abdomen with all segments distinct, segment 1 ornamented. Thoracic sternum very broad and subcircular, with all sutures interrupted; a medial line on sternites 7 and 8; a large part of the sternite 8 exposed. Sterno-abdominal cavity long. Male abdomen very short, its tip not reaching the sternal suture 6/7, but sufficiently to shelter the short and curved first pleopods. Female abdomen a little longer but vulvae remaining completely uncovered by abdomen and exposed on sternite 6. A dorsal flange on the merus of chelipeds. (Guinot 1998)
