Platyeriocheir formosa

(Chan, Hung & Yu, 1995)

Carapace somewhat hexagonal, and strongly depressed; frontal essentially straight; postero-lateral carina rudimentary; antero-lateral margin bearing only 3 strong teeth. Third maxillipeds with proximal segment II 1.01-1.13 times as long as broad. Only outer surface of chela covered with dense thick fur, tips of fingers spoon-shaped. P2-5 with anterior margins of meri bearing dense long setae, while margins of carpi, propodi, and dactyli covered with short but dense stiff setae. Propodus of P5 1.42-1.8 times as long as broad. Eggs small and numerous, with diametre of 0.29-0.33 mm and becoming 0.33-0.39, when having eye spots.
Colouration: Body greenish to blue-green and provided with yellowish brown reticular markings on dorsal surface. Eyes dark green. Ventral surface whitish. Setae on chelae brown to dark brown, while those on ambulatory legs black brown. Eggs bright purple.

Range: Taiwan.
