Neoxanthias michelae

Serène & Vadon, 1981

This species is distinguished from Neoxanthias impressus (Lamarck, 1818) as follows:
1) Carapace. 2M very distinct, separating from 1M. 6L diversed into two lobules; posterior very smaller than other; 1R + 2R + 3R diversed with 7-8 convex lobules, smooth and punctate much distinct and numerous than in N. impressus.
2) 4th tooth of antero-lateral margin less protruded and much rounded.
3) Carpus and propodus in chelipeds entirely covered with lobes, while in N. impressus smooth.
4) Dactylus of cheliped black in colour in males and females.
5) Ambulatory legs slightly slender and longer than in N. impressus; merus of 5th ambulatory leg 4.5 times as long as broad, while in N. impressus 1.8 times as long as broad. (K. Sakai after Serène & Vadon, 1981: 133)

Type locality: near Lubang Island, Philippines, 13°46.0'N, 120°23.8'E, "Musorstom 1" stn 45, 100-180 m.
Range: Taiwan; Philippines - near Lubang Island (Serène & Vadon, 1981); 70-180 m.
