Antennal flagellum excluded from orbital hiatus; posterior border of cephalothorax curved, forming curved postero-lateral junction; 6 antero-lateral teeth, first antero-lateral tooth truncate; median and submedian frontal teeth relatively stout; transverse granular ridges on carapace well developed, no distinct cardiac ridges; fine diffuse granular patches on carapace; branchial regions at most faintly swollen; anterior border of arm of cheliped with 3 or more spines; 4 spines on hand of cheliped; hand of cheliped not swollen, under surface either smooth or with a hint of squamiform markings. Range: Madagascar - near Mahajanga (Crosnier & Thomassin, 1974); RĂ©union (Crosnier & Thomassin, 1974); Japan - Sagami Bay (Parisi, 1916), Manazuru (Sakai, 1935), Manazuru and Tosa Bay (Sakai, 1939), Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1965b), Mikawa, Tosa Bay and Misaki (Stephenson & Rees, 1968c), Kii Province (Takeda & Koyama, 1974), Sagami Bay, Mikawa Bay, Wagu, Kii Nagashima, Kii Minabe, and Tosa Bay (Sakai, 1976a), Tosa Bay (Baba, 1986), off Owase (Miyake, 1983), Suruga Bay (Takeda, 1997); Korea - Cheju-do (Kim, 1970, 1973); Taiwan - Kaohsiung Province, Tung-kang, and I-lan Province (Huang & Yu, 1997); 30-150 m.
