Preorbital spines simple, widely divergent at their tips; hepatic spines very long and sharp; no other spines on the lateral borders of carapace except the anterior branchial spine; subhepatic region with two main spines. Antero-external angle of merus of third maxilliped rounded. (Türkay 1995)

Type locality: Cebu, Philippines, 10°14'N, 123°54'E, "Challenger" stn 209, 176 m.
Range: Japan - Muroto-misaki, Bungo Strait, and east of Miyazaki Prefecture (Yokoya, 1933), Manazuru (Sakai, 1935a), Sagami Bay, Kii Peninsula, Tosa Bay and Nagasaki (Sakai, 1936), Amakusa (Miyake et al., 1962), Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1965b), Sagami Bay, Shimoda, Kii Nagashima, Kii Minabe, Tosa Bay, and Nagasaki (Sakai, 1976a), Ashizuri-misaki (Miyake, 1983), Tosa Bay, Sagami Bay and Kii Peninsula (Guinot & Richer de Forges, 1995), Suruga Bay (Takeda, 1997); Taiwan - Shindakang, Kaohsiung County, and Tungkang, P'ing-tung County (Ng & Huang, 1997); South China Sea - Nanshan Island (Chen H. & Xu, 1991); Philippines - near Lubang Island (Serène & Vadon, 1981), Cebu (Henderson, 1888), north of Lubang, Mindoro Strait and near Cebu (Guinot & Richer de Forges, 1995); 80-350 m.
