Tymolus uncifer

(Ortmann, 1892)

Eyestalk slender and narrow. Eye: cornea with facettae present, relatively numerous, small, quadrate; presence of pigment. (Guinot 1998)

Median frontal teeth fused for most of their length, only terminally separated. Antero-lateral borders with one distinct tubercle. First two pairs of ambulatory legs much longer than four times the length of carapace. (Türkay 1995)

Type locality: Sagami Bay, Japan, 180-360 m.
Range: East Coast of Africa (Doflein, 1904); Andaman Sea (Alcock, 1894, 1896); East China Sea (Takeda & Miyake, 1970a); Japan - Sagami Bay (Ortmann, 1892, Tavares, 1992c), between Todo-saki and Kinkazan, Shiriya-zaki, Kinkazan, Shioya-zaki, Inubo-zaki, Ashizuri-misaki, Sagami bay, Kii Strait, south of Koshiki-jima, and north of Noto (Yokoya, 1933), Onahama, Sagami Bay and Sioya-zaki (Sakai, 1937a), Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1965b), various localities around Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu (Sakai, 1976a), Suruga Bay (Takeda, 1997), off Nojima-zaki, Boso Peninsula (Takeda, 1981a), Tosa Bay (Tavares, 1991b); Indonesia - Java, between Flores and Sumba, and Ceram Sea (Ihle, 1916).
