Genus Opecarcinus

Carapace vase-shaped, longer than broad, widest posterior to midlength, deflected anteriorly, with transverse depression on protogastric region, mesogastric region inflated; pterygostomial region fused to carapace. Third maxilliped with exopod, merus with distolateral projection. Anterior extension of sternite of first pereiopod with tubercles, sternite of fourth pereiopods with suture. Cutting edge of dactylus of chela entire. Merus of second pereiopod with distomesial projection; coxae of third and fourth pereiopods with well-developed anterior lobes. (Türkay 1995)
