P5 reduced in size, and similar in shape and position to P2-4. All margins of carapace, including the frontal border, are ornamented with numerous lobes or teeth (sometimes very acute). Dorsal surface of carapace convex or a little flattened, regions often elevated mainly on the gastric, cardiac, intestinal, branchial which are respectively separated by broad and shallow depressions; pairs of large tubercles generally occupying these elevated regions. Male ventral surface of carapace flattened, smooth; male abdomen with distinct, and relatively narrow segments (Moosa & Serène, 1981)
