Genus Calvactaea

Ward, 1933

Carapace very globose, strongly convex both longitudinally and transversely. Regions faintly defined, finely and regularly granular, evenly covered by a short felt. Antero-lateral margins entire, finely granular as the rest of the carapace. Buccal cavity quadrangular, broad. Third maxillipeds wide, with the merus broader than long and the antero-lateral angle rectangular, the two meri being separated by a space occupied by the palps. Antennules folded nearly transversely. (Guinot 1998)
