(H. Milne Edwards, 1834)
The superior margin of the cheliped palm has a carina. The anterior lobe of the antero-lateral margins of the carapace is not separated by a hiatus from the exorbital angle. The dorsal surface of the carapace is smooth and naked, with the regions convexed and feebly indicated; the antero-lateral margins have a rounded anterior lobe, followed by three slightly projecting teeth. The chelipeds have an acute crest, hardly raised, on the whole or part of the superior margin of the palm; the black colouration on the fixed finger of the male does not extend onto the palm. The ambulatory legs are relatively narrow; the merus of P5 is 2.5 times longer than broad and has a feeble crest on the superior margin. The carapace is more than one and a half times broader than long. The chelipeds have a palm of normal width (equal to 0.50 times the length) and the fingers are elongated; the inferior margin of the palm is nearly straight or feebly concave. The anterior lobes of the antero-lateral margins of the carapace are rounded and their apices hardly reach to and never extend beyond the levels of the exorbital angles. The transverse crests on the dorsal surface of the carapace are more projecting and setosed, forming the anterior margins of large, tabular lobules, in particular on 2M, 2L+3L, 4L, 5L. On the dorsal surface of the carapace, 2F is not demarcated; the tabular lobules are irregularly punctate, in particular 1M+2M+3M, 2L+3L and 5L+6L. The internal angle of the cheliped carpus has a cristiform, truncate lobe. The first pleopod of the male is unknown. (Serène, 1984)
