Parthenope sternospinosa

Carapace apparently longer than broad. Interorbital portion of rostrum with a broad longitudinal groove; supraocular cave very thick and its anterior extremity ends in an obtuse process. Species of a small size. Carapace mostly smooth; gastric area provided with three erect spines. Chelipeds only tuberculated on both borders. Ambulatory legs very thin. (T. Sakai, 1976)

Type locality: Kepulauan Kai, Indonesia, 5°36.5'S, 132°55.2'E, "Siboga" stn 260, 90 m.
Range: Japan - Kii Nagashima and Kii Minabe (Sakai, 1976a); Indonesia - Kepulauan Kai (Flipse, 1930).
