Miers, 1880
The figure given by Miers will be sufficient for our recognition of this species. Below, however, are given some additions to his original diagnoses.
1. Carapace and thoracic legs are so thickly covered with a soft, fine fur that the surface of the entire animal wears the appearance of parchment.
2. The carapace is uniformly coloured with a network of deep purple, and the ambulatory legs are banded with deep black colouration as illustrated on pl. 67, fig. 2.
3. Ecologically, the crab carries several Zoanthids attached to the carapace and ambulatory legs. (Sakai, 1976)
Type locality: Ambon, Indonesia.
Range: Japan - Yoron-jima, Amami-shoto (Sakai, 1976a); Taiwan; Sulu Archipelago - near Siasi Island (Griffin & Tranter, 1986a); Indonesia - Ambon and Timor; Australia - Townsville (Griffin & Tranter, 1986a); shallow waters.
