Simocarcinus simplex

Rostrum length less than postrostral carapace length; apex of rostrum in males expanded into two lateral lobes ventrally; females with distinct hepatic lobes. Rostrum with dorsal face tapering towards apex; rostrum in females greater than one fifth postrostral carapace length; length of hepatic lobe of female from anterior to posterior margin about one fifth postrostral carapace length; first ambulatory leg of adult female about 1.5 times as long as cheliped. Type locality: Sandwich Islands.

(Griffin & Tranter, 1986a); Hawaiian Islands - (Sakai, 1976a), Sandwich Island (Dana, 1852), Hilo, Honolulu, Waikiki, and Laysan (Rathbun, 1906), Hilo and Waikiki (Griffin & Tranter, 1986a).
