Calappa hepatica

(Linnaeus, 1758)

Length of carapace much less than two thirds of its width, its surface clearly tuberculated, clypeiform expansions of carapace with broad teeth, typically developed, ambulatory legs are largely concealed in flexion below this structure; frontal teeth simple, without subdistal accessory teeth at their outer side, median emargination shallow. The longitudinal septum of the prolongated portion of the endostome can be seen extending between the lamellar processes of the first pair of maxillipeds. (Türkay 1995)
