Notosceles serratifrons

(Henderson, 1893)

Carapace 1.8 times as long as wide. All fronto-orbital teeth sharply pointed at tip and well separated; rostral tooth serrate on its lateral sides. The two carinae of the upper palmar border of cheliped are smooth and parallel throughout their length, lower border armed with three spines; carpus with sharp tubercles and a pair of spines. Dactylus of second to fourth pereiopods slightly sickle-shaped. (Türkay 1995)

Range: India - Malabar Coast (Alcock, 1896); Sri Lanka (Henderson, 1893, Alcock, 1896); west coast of Thailand (Serène & Umali, 1972); Japan - Sagami Bay and Shimoda (Sakai, 1937a), Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1965b), off Tsushima (Takeda, 1973c), Sagami Bay, Shimoda, and Tosa Bay (Sakai, 1976a), Nanki Kushimoto (Miyake, 1983), Suruga Bay (Takeda, 1997); China Sea (Dai & Yang, 1991); South China Sea - Nansha Islands (Chen H. & Xu, 1991); Australia - Holothuria Bank; 30-81 m.
