Genus Helicana

Suborbital ridge in males isomorphic, bearing protuberances on whole length, or heteromorphic, bearing protuberances in its lateral part and a confluent vertically striate crest in its mesial part. Chela of chelipeds in males without proximal patch of setae; meral stridulating ridge in males rather long, sometimes attaining half length of merus margin, in female absent. Second to fourth pereiopods with dorsal velvet on carpus and propodus, missing in fifth. Median plate of endophragmal system present in thoracic sternites VI and VII, absent in thoracic sternite V. Male abdominal segment III laterally protruding. Male first pleopod elongate, distally cylindrical, distal to palp largely torded dorsally from ventromesial to dorsal surfaces, horny endpiece not discernible; genital pore located on ventral surface; palp small.
