Genus Zebrida

Carapace squarish, slightly broader than long. Dorsal surface with the regions poorly defined. Surfaces of carapace very smooth, never covered with pubescence. Antero- and postero-lateral margins clearly demarcated. Antero-lateral margins entire, without any teeth or lobes; lateral tooth triangular, lamelliform. Rostrum lamelliform, deeply cleft to form two triangular lobes. Chelipeds smooth; chela stout; dorsal margin with strong triangular, lamelliform crest; carpus with three well developed spines, usually lamelliform; chela short, stout; fingers not carinate. Ambulatory legs: upper border of merus, carpus and propodus cristate; propodus flattened, appearing foliaceous; presence of a terminal subcheliform process. (Guinot 1998)
