Carapace always narrow. Dorsal surface strongly convex, both longitudinally and transversely, giving a slightly globular appearance. Regions separated by broad and deep furrows, bearing a fine tomentum. Regions prominent, covered with large swollen granules placed one against the other. Chelipeds: extremities of the fingers pointed and, when closed, crossing each other. Ambulatory legs nodular, less obviously on carpus and propodus. (Guinot 1998)
