Carapace wider than long in adults, surface lacking erect spines or prominent tubercles, but with grooves; cervical groove shallow but distinct; lateral borders without an epibranchial tooth or tubercle. Afferent branchial orifices narrow and placed somewhat before bases of chelipeds, being separated from chelipeds by narrow process of carapace reaching down to sternum. Dactyli of second and third legs lacking fringes, naked or nearly so. Last two pairs of pereiopods distinctly subchelate, dactylus closing against tubercle of propodus. (Türkay 1995)
