Carapace as long as wide or slightly wider than long, surface very rough and uneven, with deep grooves and distinct tubercles; cervical groove distinct, but wide; lateral borders with an epibranchial tooth or tubercle. Afferent branchial orifices narrow and placed somewhat before bases of chelipeds, being separated from chelipeds by narrow process of carapace reaching down to sternum. Dactyli of second and third legs lacking fringes, naked or nearly so. Last two pairs of pereiopods distinctly subchelate, dactylus closing against tubercle of propodus. (Türkay 1995)
