Welcome to this project 'Crabs of Japan and the Adjacent Seas'

Based on the title of the three volume work by Dr. Tsune Sakai (1976) which forms the foundation for the present publication.

Back in 1993 work started on revising and updating this important work under chief editorship of Prof. Katsushi Sakai (director ETI-Japan), son of the late Dr. T. Sakai. This project received financial support from the Ministery of Education, Culture, Sports, Sciences and Technology, Japan in 1993-1998 and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences, Japan (grant nr.
128098) in 1999-2000.

This revision would not haven been possible without the efforts of Danièle Guinot, Peter Davie, and Michael Türkay.

Final production of the CD-ROM was realised in close coöperation between branch office ETI-Japan and headquarters ETI-Netherlands.
